Robert Browning said it best. “Never the time, and the place, and the loved one all together.” Isn't that the truth? But sometimes, it is the right time, and place for love and in episode 11, Momo and Mars are able to be together. At least, for the moment. It's one of my favorite episodes, so beautifully shot, and full of emotion.
Momo finds Jia Sen at the pool to speak to him about visiting her parents' graves. He wants to come, but she begs off, saying she needs to think. To brighten her mood, Jia Sen shows off his water tricks, a version of water ballet which makes Momo laugh.
Also in a great mood is Mars, who tells Yi Zhi he doesn't know why. (Uh, because you're playing Momo's favorite character, so maybe she'll like you better?) They're on their way to the first drama shoot of the “Prince Kasaba” drama and Mars has already memorized the lines.
Momo's brief laughter has faded and she talks to Mumu about how lonely she is, and tells Mumu they'll both forget him. Easier said then done and when she's at her parents graves, Momo asks them this question.
Momo goes on to tell her parents about Mars and asks them to take care of him.
Mars, meanwhile, has gotten word of a change in his shooting location and heads there. It turns out it's not far from Momo, who is waiting for the bus which unloads a stream of fans all gabbing about Mars filming nearby.
Momo goes to the filming site, feeling relieved as she watches from a distance that Mars is doing so well and slowly walks away. She's spotted by a disbelieving Mars, who gets Yi Zhi to the stop the car. He calls out to Momo, and she hesitates, then runs away, so he chases her.
Having to fight off fans, Mars finally catches up to her, asking her why she ran away. It's an exquisite moment as Momo turns away from him to hide her feelings. She's hid her feelings for so long, from everyone, that Mars' every look and touch, the sound of his voice makes her react and lose control of herself.
In the middle of a lake, in a boat, Mars asks her why she came to see him. But she explains she was visiting her parents' graves and Mars thinks that's why she was upset. He tries to get her to respond, but she just tells him she wants to go as his fans won't bother them anymore. So Mars goes to start the engine, but nothing happens. He calls Yi Zhi for help.
As they wait, Mars comes closer to her and is surprised when she again seems to want to avoid him. He asks her doesn't she want the company of an old classmate? But Momo says she's used to being alone. Bitterly, she says:
“Besides, I'm always alone. Eating alone. Reading manga alone. Going to the bookstore alone. Watching tv alone. Walking alone. Talking to myself.”
As she speaks, Mars notices the handkerchief tied around her arm. He tells her she's lying, otherwise she wouldn't have his handkerchief tied around her arm. Momo tries to prevaricate, but Mars continues, telling her she never told him she wanted to be by his side.
At this point, Momo tries to take off the handkerchief. A little too late for that Momo. Mars stops her and says she never did answer his question, does she like him, has she ever liked him? And Momo replies by asking him a question.
And he kisses her. Hesitantly at first, then with greater assurance as she responds. The world revolves around them as he holds her close as they kiss.
Mars gives Momo a bunch of phone numbers when they are finally rescued, so that she can always reach him. And so begins their new relationship.
Momo is given forms by Jia Sen's mom to fill out for school in London, Jia Sen's mom telling her she doesn't have to decide now, just fill out the forms and decide later.
So it's with a heavy heart that Momo meets Mars, who's disguised with sunglasses and a hat. Mars chatters on while Momo sits pensive and still. Finally, he asks what's wrong, but she denies anything is, and it's so sweet how he tells her to let him know if she's unhappy or bored and he'll fix it. He tells her he likes to see her smile, which coaxes a smile from Momo.
Then Mars gets a phone call. His mom's in the hospital. He rushes there and learns from the doctor that his mom's breast cancer has resurfaced again, and advanced. To make matters worse, his mom is refusing treatment.
When Mars goes to see her and ask her how can she keep this a secret from him, she's dismissive of his concerns. And when he tells her he'll take care of her, their old conflicts take center stage as she decries that, telling him he needs to work. Most moms would want to know they're more important than work to their sons, but not this mom.
Yi Zhi gets a call that it's time for Mars to leave, but he doesn't want to. Mom, however, is furious and threatens to rip the IV out and leave the hospital if Mars doesn't go, so he leaves. So begins an exhausting time for Mars, between his numerous work commitments on one hand and caring for his Mom on the other hand.
Momo worries about him and tells Jia Sen she's not sure if she can go to London. She wonders if she should call Mars, hating to bother him at such a time, but they send each other text messages and he calls her on filming breaks.
Mars takes his mom around the hospital in her wheelchair and they watch old films of Mars together. And she tells him, which is probably the first time ever, how proud she is of him. Thus we the viewers shouldn't be surprised to learn that she dies soon afterwards.
Mars had called Momo, who was much concerned over him not having enough time to rest, so she doesn't want to talk long. Later on, Mars went to the hospital and found Yi Zhi crying on the steps. His mom had passed away.
Two weeks pass by, and Tony is going crazy because there's so much work for Mars, including an upcoming concert and no one knows where Mars is. Tony goes to Yi Zhi and begs him to tell him where he is, but Yi Zhi says he really doesn't know.
Yi Zhi calls Momo, but Mars hasn't been in contact with her either. But at work, Momo gets a call from Chu Chu telling her Mars is at their house. She goes home to find him asleep in his old bed and gently covers him with a blanket.
As she tenderly touches his cheek, Momo turns to leave, but Mars wakes and grabs her hand. “Stay with me.” And Momo sits down next to him on the bed.

Final Thoughts: This episode is just stunning, but I'm going to be real quick here. Due to lj's problems, I've tried to post things before and failed. Getting kinda tired of it. One more episode to go, hope Ij stays up. Finally, leaving you with some beautiful shots.
