Episode 2 or Mr. Dumb meets Tweedledee and Tweedledum. There's also a burgeoning moment of awareness, some great slap downs by Arunprapai to Mr. Dumb and Bproong, plus a fashion show pitting Bproong against Arunprapai. Mia Taeng continues to interest and amuse me.

(Arunprapai and Mr. Dumb star in "The Moment")
The continuing saga of Mr. Dumb )
Mia Taeng is the new lakorn in town, and it looks to be a fun and satisfying one (please don't start to drag!). It stars Rome Patchata and Araya Chompoo as a couple who get married due to their parents wishes. Araya is cool, calm and collected, while Rome's the hot tempered playboy.

Ikemen Desu Ne is You're Beautiful condensed, plus a pinch of slurpy cliche-ridden subplot.

Thoughts on Ikemen Desu Ne )
Soo, I finally got around to watching episode one of City Hunter (which was boring until you-know-who stepped onto the scene).  I also watched the first two episodes of Myung-wol the Spy, which is what I really wanna talk about. Oh yeah, and trying, trying hard to finish Lie to Me and Drunken to Love You.

(Myung-wol the Spy, Comrade X)

I've decided to add a new section, Reminds Me Of, which will talk about dramas, and contrast them to the movies, tv shows, etc. that have similar plots or concepts to it. In this case, when I first read the synopsis of Myung-wol the Spy, and read about an uptight agent and how she has to marry her enemy, I immediately thought of Comrade X, a 1940 movie starring Clark Gable and Hedy Lamarr. Never heard of it? Well, that's what I'm here for. Onward ho!

Myung-wol reminds me of...? )

It's been a while since I've had one of these posts. I finished Best Love and was impressed by it overall. No pictures cuz this is a real quick post.

Finished
Best Love - I love how fresh the Hong Sisters make it. Often times I'll expect this or that to happen, only to be totally surprised. And unlike with Lie to Me, it doesn't just come out of nowhere, but it fits with the plot and characters.
I think I still like several other Hong Sisters' dramas better, namely You're Beautiful and Sassy Girl.

Watching Now:

Lie to me - Ehhhhh. I've been watching this on and off, having to pause from embarassment at times.

Drunken to Love You - I find the main couple reason enough to continue to watch, although the plot points are so contrived and silly. Now there's a mean ol mom in law, there are exes who keep butting in, you know the type, and then Rainie's character befriends the fiancee of her ex. Wow, she's just so ... so unrealistic.

BBK (Borisut Bumbut Kaen) continues to interest me. On episode 10, and I like the fact that the mental health issues have yet to go away. There are no easy solutions here. The presence of the monster Taywan lurks over all. He's the spilit personality of Taywan, the abnormal, vengeful side, while on the other hand, Jorm represents the normal, caring and good part of his nature. Taywan took the name Jorm later on.

I don't really care for the humor in the series, mostly portrayed by two workers at the hotel, but I like the acting by Aum and Ann. There's also a child now, someone who reminds Taywan of what he lost.

Watch Later/Dropped:
Material Girl - Not a favorite trope of mine, rich girl, poor guy, but based on reviews I might watch it later.
Hayate the Combat Butler - I'm gonna wait, for reviews and subs.
City Hunter - might start watching this.
Romance Town - slice of life, quirky, but the main actor, actress I find uninteresting.
Baby Faced Beauty - I find the male lead not so compelling. I actually prefer the second lead. But I might pick it up later if I'm in need of a rom com.
Now there's a mouthful: Borisut Bumbut Kaen. Translated it means something like "Revenge Therapy Company," which makes no sense until you learn that the hero, Taywan, played by Aum Atichart goes into the spa therapy business as a way of getting revenge on Nong (Ann Thongprasom), a rich heiress married to Chakrit (Krit).

I'm taking a break from the Korean fest of dramas I've been watching, waiting until they finish up or near finish to resume watching them. For now, I'm four episodes into this thai lakorn, and becoming invested in the characters.
More about BBK under cut )

(Just a couple of the reasons why Nong's mental health is none too spiffy.)

If you like a revenge drama with romance, this is looking good.
This post is really an excuse to post pretty pictures. Having finished Lie to Me episode 4, and watching Best Love's episode 5, I'm ready for more. Bring it on! Er, City Hunter, not too close, I'm smelling something odd now, and back off Ripley, I'm still undecided. I want to see how much of a witch the main character will be. No matter how entertaining it is, if I can't get behind or root for the characters, then no thank you.

(Lie to Me, Best Love)

Lie to Me has some boring (the conventional setups) and some good (the chemistry between the leads). With episodes 3 and 4 though, much of the time was spent on the relationships between brothers Sang Hee and Ki-Joon and between Sang Hee and Ah-Jung. Oh, and this love triangle I don't care about between three older people in the drama.

(Ah Jung and Ki-Joon)

It's had a few interesting moments, such as the way Ah-Jung gets Ki-Joon's attention at the hotel, but overall, not terribly compelling. Still, the set up is over with, so I think it can only get better from here on as Ah-Jung and Ki-Joon will be throw together more and more. Plus, seems like Ki-Joon's going to take this fake relationship to the extreme (well, not Dokko Jin extreme, but a milder version of it) and make his character more delightful and funny.

(You know you want to kiss the girl!)

Best Love, really hard to tell where it's going to go next. I mean, you have the general idea, it's a romantic comedy, but the Hong sisters as usual, manage to mix it up. I really think that's what they do best. Bring their own flair to conventional plots, setups. Course half the fun is Dokko Jin who seriously borders on crazy, but it's a compelling, sexy sort of mania.

I was worried the leads wouldn't have chemistry and that it would take forever and a day before Dokko Jin accepted his feelings for Ah-Jung. Well, no worries on the latter. For some reason, I really want to see Jin get the girl, I mean really.
Really. Why is that, I'm not sure of. Maybe because Dokko's been pretty open and honest about his feelings, but whatever it is, I'm definitely emotionally invested in this drama.

I just got finished watching the first two episodes of the Hong sister's latest Best Love, one episode of Lie to Me, two episodes of the twdrama Drunken to Love You, not to mention continuing Keizoku 2: Spec. So, time for some awards!

Award Time )

Currently watching three dramas, nope, not any of the current K dramas or TW dramas out there. I'm trying to find some  good Japanese dramas, and trying to clear my back list of dramas (see here for details). I'm also just waiting for more subs, basically, before I watch the new stuff. Soooo, onwards!

Ah, what joy and happiness a child can bring. Also chaos, terror, fear, and calamity as well. No, I'm not speaking from personal experience (thank you!), but from the lakorn Ka Kaung Kon.
