The first Thai lakorn I've watched this year. In fact, the only new Thai lakorn I've watched this year and my second Thai lakorn review. Ah! Look at the sparkly good looks. Pretty.
Also, cheating here, but teaser 6: Guess Who? There's a familiar face in here.
Watching Now: Ka Kaung Kon Episodes 7, 8
Apr. 22nd, 2011 07:30 pmAh, what joy and happiness a child can bring. Also chaos, terror, fear, and calamity as well. No, I'm not speaking from personal experience (thank you!), but from the lakorn Ka Kaung Kon.
Watching Now: Ka Kaung Kon Episodes 4
Mar. 21st, 2011 12:48 amThe whole premise of Ka Kaung Kon, the characters, the plot are all pretty unoriginal and has been done before. But I think it's slightly saved from being complete cliches because of the acting of Pong and Noon (the two leads) and adding a few little tweaks here and there to the basic formula.
So for example, we have as the male lead a typical arrogant rich playboy, but he behaves like a little kid at times. Then there's the fighting and bickering between the leads, but it's interspersed with moments of tenderness. There's a lot more attempts at characters to talk and understand each other earlier than I'm used to in most dramas.
( More please? )

So far, I've watched three episodes of Ka Kaung Kon starring Pong Nawat and Noon Woranuch. The title in English means “A Person's Worth/Value.” I've watched Pong and Noon in other lakorns and liked them both. Plus, one of my favorite stories, a marriage by a contract. First episode, bleh, second, dawning interest, and by the third episode, anticipation and interest.
So what can I say? A striking couple, she's not weeping 24/7 anymore, thank you, and a pra'ek on the road to love, with a not so enamored nang'ek? I'm there. Oh, yeah I'm there.
Best 2010/2011 Dramas
Jan. 14th, 2011 06:18 pmI wasn't going to do one of these posts, partly because there are still 2010 dramas I want to watch, but then I thought, wouldn't it be fun to make a list of my favorites for 2010 and 2011 and compare them in a year's time? Of course it would! Be fun, that is. If . . . if you're me.
~The Best of 2010~
10. Wanida - (Thai lakorn)
This really wouldn't have made it to the list except for one factor. I call it the "Tik" factor. Really, this shouldn't be on the list at all. I mean, I liked the music, the sets, the clothes, but if only I had liked the plot which was riddled with cliches, stupid plot points or the heroine Wanida. Still, lovely scenery.
