I wasn't going to do one of these posts, partly because there are still 2010 dramas I want to watch, but then I thought, wouldn't it be fun to make a list of my favorites for 2010 and 2011 and compare them in a year's time?  Of course it would! Be fun, that is. If . . . if you're me.

~The Best of 2010~

. Wanida - (Thai lakorn)
This really wouldn't have made it to the list except for one factor. I call it the "Tik" factor. Really, this shouldn't be on the list at all. I mean, I liked the music, the sets, the clothes, but if only I had liked the plot which was riddled with cliches, stupid plot points or the heroine Wanida. Still, lovely scenery.

Best 2010/2011 dramas cont. )

(Random Tik picture, what can I say?)

I must say, I seem to be in a Thai lakorn mood recently. I just finished watching Wanida, and most of the dramas I'm looking forward to are Thai dramas. That could be because I don't really want to download things (due to the fact that my hard drive is almost full and I don't want to buy anything else or delete anything yet, so I'm waiting to watch the stuff I already have) and a lot of Thai lakorns aren't available for download anyways and those that do have poorer quality.

Just finished watching the torturous events of the last episode of Cinderella's Sister. My Goodness!  How lame can you get?  I had to stop and take a breather, read the recap before I could face the last 20 minutes of it. Even so, I had to take frequent breaks.

Maybe I made this more painful then it needed to be by spoiling myself. But no, I felt the need to brace myself due to the events of the last few episodes of stupid plot contrivances like Mom's leaving, the Eun-Jo like little girl, and angst that didn't need to happen if only people would like, talk and listen to each other.

What I loved most about the show is Eun-Jo. Although she did some really dumb things, like the leaving at the end, had some very long monologues really in the last two episodes, Eun-Jo also had some shining moments when she says she's going to the police anyway, attempts to keep the family together and deal with her inner rage herself. It was her cries of pain and anguish that did it for me.

What I disliked was of course Hyo-Sun whom I didn't think much of to start with, and who improved very little throughout the drama, which shouldn't have been twenty episodes. And what was Taecyeon's character there for? He was never a real threat to KiHoon.

Looking ahead, I want to see Moon Geun-young in another, hopefully better written drama.

Okay, here goes. Having some free time, deciding to finish Cinderella's Sister. Have about two episodes left. But its a struggle.

This was kinda like You're Beautiful to me, not sure if I like it or not, changing my mind several times during an episode. (You're Beautiful finally won me over with its great "Breathless" scene and the smooches of the main couple.)

The acting is good, I like the characters, but some things get in my way of liking it more fully. One thing is that its 20 episodes, the first four are spent in teenage years, and then a fast forward of eight years. The characters, situations, family dynamics seem frozen in time, nothing's changed. Eun Jo is still cold, even to her stepfather who's nice to her, there's a new son, the mom is off having an affair, but that's it. And of course, cute fattie grows up to be Taec. Didn't anything happen in those years to change it up?

One great thing about this drama is how conflicted people seem to be about the two main girls, who's really the evil one and there's a lot of debate. It's simple to me, I'm purely on Eun Jo's side and I don't get why its so hard to see that she really has a lot of heart, she just hides it for fear of people chomping on it. The other girl, has it easy all her life, pretty adored girl of a single doting father. Her only hardship has come from her mom's death and later on the new family dynamics.
