"I think I'm fallin' in love
I think I'm in love with you
I want to give all my love only to you,
Even if it means I throw all of me away."
Well, in case it wasn't apparent from the pictures, love's in the air in episodes 5 and 6 of Ka Kaung Kon with both love confessions, an engagement and disavowals of love. By the way, these aren't recaps, so I'm leaving out many things, just focusing on what I want to talk about.
Unfortunately as of now, love hasn't struck PeeMarn and NahTah. Too bad, that would have made things even more interesting (NahTah likes PeeMarn, PeeMarn's in love with Gluay, Gluay''s falling for Luck). Luck's stepmom, Khun Kare, comes to Luck and Gluay and tells them her son's called off the engagement party. She believes he'll go through with it in the end, and wants Gluay and Luck to play the loving couple.
Gluay and Luck go to Khun Kare's house for a dinner and PeeMarn sees the two in an embrace. Would be in-laws show up and NahTah finds out that Gluay is the person whose picture was on PeeMarn's office desk, but Gluay tries to reassure her that it's she and PeeMarn that make the suitable couple.
News of the upcoming engagement is announced. Yeah. Kai's happy, Jed's happy. Only Luck isn't happy, that darned Gluay keeps talking about leaving. Haha. Jed calls Gluay asking her to meet about something “important,” but it's just him confessing his feelings to her and he gives her a ring asking to marry her. She promises to give him his answer soon and leaves.
Oh la la, Luck's home for lunch for once. Wonder why? To see his sweetie of course, but she isn't there. He raves around until Gluay comes back and feeds him, the overgrown kid. There's some lovey dovey scenes, it's obvious both have a thing for the other, but it comes to an end when an accident makes her purse fall open.
Luck sees the ring and knows she lied (she told him she went out to pay bills and shop). Luck pieces it all together. He tells Gluay she's his, throws the ring in the pool, and storms off … to Jen of course. The servants look for the ring and find it, but PeeMarn wants to know who's ring is it? So the servants spill the beans, and he learns Jed gave Gluay an engagement ring. Now why would he do that? Unless...?
In episode 6, Luck's having no fun with Jen as she spills that she knows it all. When he gets home, Gluay tracks him to his room to apologize for lying. She tells him Jed's just a big bro to her, and she didn't know she was getting a ring/proposal until she went. He tells her to prove it by giving him the ring and she reluctantly agrees he can hold on to it until they divorce.
Clothes are being prepared for the engagement and Luck and Gluay go to rent a Thai dress for her. Cue the you look amazing scene. So it's all butterflies and roses with Gluay and Luck, he asks her not to talk anymore about their splitting up. She agrees and he takes pictures of her to remember. Then it's off to a restaurant for the end to a perfect DATE!
Gad, it's so rare to see a couple getting along for an extended period of time without fighting in a lakorn.
Gluay and Luck come back (from the best date EVER) to find a distraught Khun Kare who tells them PeeMarn knows all (from some convenient eavesdropping) and canceled the engagement. She mourns his future prospects with his boss and their loss of reputation, wondering how they can face anybody. Luck comforts the sobbing woman and promises to get things back in order.
"Shelter me like the wind passing by,
Don't fly away, even if it's with you,
I'll follow till the end of the world
I think I'm fallin in love."
Gluay offers to speak to PeeMarn and tells him he should marry NahTah and that she doesn't love him. She loves Luck. PeeMarn's stunned into silence.
Ok. So we have a marriage of convenience, what else do we need? How about a SECRET LOVE CHILD? (And yes, I read Harlequin romance novels.) Not that love seems to have much to do with it. Luck tells PeeMarn he will take responsibility for NahTah if PeeMarn takes responsibility for his own kid by acknowledging her legally. So here's the deal. Either marry NahTah or PeeMarn's secret will be revealed and he'll lose both Gluay and NahTah. Deal or no deal? PeeMarn goes to and apologized abjectly to his furture inlaws. Coward!
At this point, I'm wondering at all this angst for something that doesn't need to happen, Gluay and Luck's parting. After all, they're both available, so why can't she just stay married to him? But I think the feelings are too new and they haven't known each other very long either, probably a few months at best. So it makes sense that both are being cautious.
