Momo places a blanket on Mars and turns to leave, but Mars wakes up and grabs her hand. She asks him where he was and he says he doesn't know, but that everywhere he went he felt so alone. Momo reminds him about what he said to her, that she wasn't alone anymore, and tells him he's not either. She gets him to lay back down and they rest together.

When her sister Chu Chu comes for breakfast, she puzzles over why Mars suddenly showed up here, correctly deducing that he and Momo had secretly been in touch. After Momo manages to calm Chu Chu down from her euphoric state (after all, Mars is a popular star now), Momo gets the recipe out that Mars' mom gave her, thinking, “Prince Kasaba you once said, "If there is a sad person beside you, let him eat a good meal." How practical, but true.

She makes him the recipe, but Mars tells her it tastes best with others and so they eat together. In the morning, she sends him off with a kiss and hug, unaware that they're being photographed. Although Momo had asked Chu Chu not to tell anyone, in the end, Chu Chu couldn't resist telling her friends and word spread.

The pictures upset Jia Sen's mom, who knows a London trip is very unlikely now and she hides the news from Jia Sen who's happily preparing a gift for Momo. Tony has also seen the pictures, and he asks Mars how could he let this type of picture be taken? But Mars simply replies, “I love her.”

Tony is furious at that, but comes up with a solution. A press conference, where Momo will be revealed to be Yi Zhi's girlfriend (not sure how that would explain the pictures, but anyway). Mars flat out refuses and stalks out in anger.

Yi Zhi follows him and tells him Tony's right, but Mars can't believe he would think that. So Yi Zhi tells him he'll go to Momo instead. He did it before. And he confesses his previous actions to a stunned Mars, who tells him to stay away from Momo.

Meanwhile, Jia Sen is protecting Momo from a flock of reporters and after he leaves her, Mars comes along. There's a hug that brings a smile to my face, and Mars tells Momo about Tony's press conference idea and what Yi Zhi did a year ago. Momo's very forgiving (now that she's got her man, haha) and tells him she understands it because Yi Zhi just wanted him to achieve his dream.

Mars tells her that no matter what, he won't let go of her and neither should she let go of him and Momo nods her consent. They go on to discuss the their first Valentine day together.

The days pass, and then one night, Momo gets a surprise guest. Surprise, surprise, do you like surprises? Turns out Momo is not pleased with this surprise, Jia Sen, with rose in hand and a memorized declaration of love both of which he presents to her before running off.

Yi Zhi apologizes to Mars for what he did and the two make up. Now they have to deal with the fallout of the pictures. The question of whether Mars is dating is avoided with reporters, but Yi Zhi cautions Mars about seeing Momo. He informs Mars about the hate mail, even a threat from a crazy fan, and the events that were canceled because of the scandal. His position is pretty much the same as last year, why now, can't it wait, but Mars tries to bear it patiently.

Mars goes to find the perfect Valentine gift for Momo and sees a Prince Kasaba necklace.

In the meantime, Momo's waiting patiently for Mars when Chu Chu runs up with the news that Mars has been in an accident. So off they go to the hospital, which is filled with reporters and Mars fan club members. They surrounded and start being booed by the fans, who yell at Momo that it's her fault Mars was in an accident.

Yi Zhi comes to their aid and they go to Mars' room, but Tony takes one look at them and rips into Yi Zhi for bringing them here. Momo asks Tony to let her see Mars, and then Yi Zhi adds his own plea, telling Tony Momo's the one Mars probably most wants to see.

Tony caves in and Momo goes in alone. At her presence, Mars wakes and gives her the present he went to through so much to get her. Alone, Momo reads the note with the gift, which reassures her that unlike how Prince Kasaba left Miss Fish, Mars wouldn't leave her.

The scandal continues to grow, with the revelation that it was a fan of Shi Jia that hit Mars for jilting Shi Jia. Mars is laid up with internal injuries, as well as a leg injury all of which will need 6 months to heal. But there's only 4 months left until the concert.

For Momo, on a personal note, things are looking better. Jia Sen talks to her about Mars, and hopes he gets better. And when Momo hears Mars fanclub members wondering if the concert will be canceled, she speaks up and asks them to continue to support Mars.

Afterwards, Momo goes to Yi Zhi to beg him to sneak her in to see Mars. He does, but they're caught by Tony. He enumerates all the reasons why Mars and her shouldn't be together. (That's getting old.) And so Momo leaves without seeing Mars.

Of course, Mars is getting antsy as he hasn't heard from Momo in days, and she's not accepting his phone calls either. He talks to Yi Zhi about it, who tries to pretend he doesn't know anything about it. After Mars starts talking about going to visit her himself however, Yi Zhi tells him about Tony's discussion with Momo.

Yi Zhi finally decides to turn from the dark side and brings Momo to visit Mars, which he does, only who should pop in a moment later by Tony. Honestly! Mars basically tells Tony to lay off his private life, so Tony huffily goes off, telling them he needs to deal with the cancellation of the concert. But Mars and then Momo both beg him not to, Mars assuring him he can be ready in time.

On the way home, Yi Zhi asks Momo to continue supporting Mars, telling her he needs her. Momo has continued to wonder how can she stay with Mars if he loses his fan support, but Yi Zhi told her that Mars made the decision already, so he'll take responsibility for it. So Momo thinks,

 

“Zhuang Jun Nan needs me. Yes, I might not be able to help Mars,
but I can still be by Zhuang Jun Nan's side.”

She promises herself, “At least until he goes back on stage, I won't leave him.”

Mars rehibilitation starts and Momo is there with him step-by-step. Even in her classes, it's clear to see her mind is elsewhere. She comforts him with stories of Prince Kasaba.

On Prince Kasaba's planet, people started fighting over energy and gradually stopped loving each other. So Prince Kasaba came to Earth to find something to save it. He meets a girl Xiao Yu (Little Fish) and tells her he found what will save their planet, “Love.” So he goes back the his planet with the newfound energy and a promise to return to her with a gift. The gift Little Fish wants? His heart.

Momo gets a call from Jia Sen's mom. Time to face the music. She tells them she can't go to London, much to their dismay. Jia Sen storms off to his room and Momo follows. There's an injured friend she must help, Momo explains, but Jia Sen guesses that it's Mars. He asks her if she likes him, and then grabs her arm with his hands, and says “Stop liking him!” There's a bit of struggle as Momo pulls free, and Jia Sen tells her to leave, pushing her out the room.

The hurting continues as Jia Sen's mom talks to Mars, telling her she's always given Jia Sen what he wanted (which just might be a problem lady), and tells her she knows she can't force her to love Jia Sen, and not to forget him. Momo promises and leaves.

She trails after Jia Sen for days as he ignores her, but then one night Jia Sen goes to see Mars for a man to man talk. “I want to know, do you like Momo?” he asks. “You like Momo right?” “I love her. I really love her.” “Will you protect her?” “I will. I'll protect her forever.” SWOON! “Fine.”

Jia Sen turns to leave, but still has something to say. “ I will always hate you,” says he, “because I will always like Momo.” With that he leaves. Not a bad exit line. Later, Jia Sen shows up at Momo's and apologizes for saying he hated her and asks if they can still be friends. Momo accepts his apology and the lollipop he hands her. Flashback to the two as kids, with him offering her a lollipop.

Momo finds Yi Zhi awaiting her at the hospital. He takes her to this beautiful area, with the ocean as a backdrop, and there is Mars at the end of a long coastal walkway. He can walk again, and he hobbles unevenly towards her, yelling all the while. Momo yells back and then runs towards him. They meet in a tight embrace.

So let's talk deadline. Concert's in about a month, and Tony's so happy with that he tells Mars if he's not up to it, he's willing to cancel it and he even seems to accept Momo's presence. Momo cheers Mars on at his dance practices, rehearsals, making him special health concoctions, but it seems like the more he heals, the less space there is for her in his life. He doesn't need her as he did when he was hurt, and now he's surrounded by his entourage of helpers, who fan him, get him water and see to most of his needs.

The first concert is at the university Mars used to attend and Tony's there to soak in the success. In his dressing room, Mars thinks of his Mom. “Mom, even though you can't be here, don't worry. I can do it.” At this point, Momo arrives with a huge load of flowers which she gives him.

To her, this is it, the last she'll see of Mars before they'll break up, because she isn't needed by him anymore. Momo even tells he she didn't help in anything, which Mars laughs off. But when she calls him handsome, it makes him nervous and he asks her to do her Prince Kasaba thing, only this time no slapping.

“Prince Kasaba, I really, really do love this person.” “I hope he will never feel lonely. Even though I might not be able to stay by his side.” Momo traces the outline of his face with her fingers as she thinks this, and ends with a gentle kiss as tears fall. Mars sees the tears when he opens his eyes and asks Momo about it, but she says so many people are waiting for him on stage and she's really happy for him.

“It doesn't matter how many people are in the audience.
I will always find you.”

Looking into her eyes, Mars continues,

“Trust me.”

At the concert, everyone's up out of their seats jiving to the song while Momo's sunk in a mire of memories. She gives a good bye speech to Zhuang Jun Nan as she thinks back to the times they shared together.

After a fast number, Mars introduces his next song that he wrote for someone in the audience. As he speaks of the girl he at first fought with, then came to realize was always there to help him during his hard times, Mars concludes with a love confession. Chu Chu excitedly turns to Momo's seat... only she's not there anymore.

Momo goes to open the auditorium doors, and sees Mars there. He introduces himself like he did in the video, and takes her hand and we see a montage of hand holding. He leads her to the stage as he sings her song. She cries, but allows herself to be draw along as he sings and finally at the ending, a hug.

Next we see the two strolling through Momo's house. It's apparent he has his old room back and the old rules, plus some new ones. No bringing girls home, Momo informs, and he agrees, leaning in for a kiss.
Interference call on Chu Chu, who brings them outside to see something. There's a number of girls at the gate of the house, some with Prince Kasaba cut outs, and holding signs, all in the Momo hairstyle. Her fans. Mars laughs, Momo cringes, and Chu Chu's astonished. The end.

Final Thoughts: The ending was a little too... neat for me. Jia Sen gets over wanting to be with Momo, and matures enough to start appreciating his Mom. And his Mom lets go of Momo. Not to mention, Momo gets her own fan club at the end, with the implication that people now are rooting for her and Mars.

But thankfully the ending's a little ambiguous, it doesn't really say that everything's all rosy with Mars career and life (although we know his love life's doing just fine ^-^). And by golly, I want that ending for Momo and Mars, they deserve it. This is one of my all-time favorite couples.

Finally, a big hurrah to the director, the acting by Jiro Wang and Momo  Rainie Yang (by far her best effort), the music and the story.  I haven't talked a lot about the music, but it fits the story perfectly and the part where Mars sings to Momo is sublime.
