"Don't think that I'll let you push me around...
You brought this upon yourself. Too bad. You deserve it."

EPISODE 2

Siva queries Thoi over whether he did what he was told. He's often short with Thoi, although to be honest, Thoi can be somewhat annoying. It turns out preparations are complete, and Siva makes his way into the Orchid House and then into Palai's bedroom with ease.

He gives a smirk as he heads towards her bed only to find... Pang?! Pang tells him Palai switched rooms with her for the night and so Siva heads to Pang's room. He bangs on the door, but although Palai's awake, she doesn't answer. Pang comes and informs him Palai's asleep, and if he's lonely, he can talk to her instead, and that speeds Siva on his way.

At the office, Rasika opens an envelope with no return address. It contains a piece of paper stating:
All your secrets will be revealed. Soon.

Included as well are some photos taken of her and Siva's father standing together, plus a purchasing document.

Rasika shows them to Siva's father, who's incensed over the matter. He tells her it's close to election time and to quickly find who did it and solve the problem. Rasika promises to see to it, and as she goes over the letter, she's reminded that Palai said something to her that's very similar to what's in the letter. Hmm.

(Mann, Rasika's hunky ex?)

It's time to visit an old friend henchman, Mann. Rasika goes to visit Mann at his electronics shop, but he's not pleased to see her. He tells her he'll pay back his debt to her as fast as possible, but Rasika says,

“You already know that the debts you owe me can't be repaid with money.
I was the one who took you out of that hell hole.
Gave you a great business so you didn't have to keep selling your body.
Without my help, you wouldn't have this today.”

She tells him she has an easy job for him, she wants him to find a woman as soon as possible. Mann wonders why she doesn't hire a detective, and Rasika tells him she doesn't want anyone to know about it or link her to it. So Mann agrees, stating it'll be his last job for her. Sure, dude, we believe you.

Siva comes home to find the place crawling with bodyguards. He goes to his father, who tells him about the threatening letter. Siva promises to find out who sent it, but asks him to get rid of the bodyguards.

(Rasika finds the letter, while Palai wears a self satisfied expression.)

Siva heads to Palai, who asks what proof does he have it was her? Maybe it was an enemy of his father. Siva reminds her there's no one as crazy as her. He tells her she broke their agreement, so he won't hold back anymore.

Meanwhile, Meena pays a visit to Thanakorn's house to get Officer's Veerakorn's number. His mother urges her to get Palai to contact her or Thana. So Meena faithfully relays the message to Palai when she talks to Palai, telling her Thana's in a bad condition, but Palai tells her she can't see him and he'll get over it soon.

The conversation depresses Palai, and when she refuses to eat dinner, Pang asks her what's wrong. She tells Pang that she's caused trouble for people like Pang and Thana, but Pang tells her they want to do this.

(Pang and her Palai)

In one of the more beautiful, class friendly scenes in this drama, Palai urges Pang to eat with, telling her she sees her as a friend. Pang is the one who has a problem with it, but finally gives in.

And so this beautiful meal of friendship and trust ends... with both Palai and Pang knocked out due to the sleeping pills Siva had put in the food.

Palai wakes to find herself tied to the bed frame. Siva is standing over her and he wants the code. Now. He tells her he didn't want to do this, but her actions have forced him to it. Palai's defiant to the end, but as Siva starts putting his hands on her, she yells at him to stop.

"If you want me to stop, then tell me!
Hmm? So you're not going to tell me? Okay."

"Do it. If you kiss me then I'm going to bite your tongue off.
You think I don't have the guts to do it?"

"I don't have to kiss you.
There are plenty of other things that I can do to you.”

She's about to tell him when there's an interruption by his servant Thoi telling him Siva's mom is on the phone. His Mom has hung up by the time Siva answers, and so Siva dismisses Thoi and goes back, only to get hit with something by Palai.

When Siva wakes, he finds himself tied to a supporting post outside and Palai comes to gloat at him. She goes back to bed, but it starts to rain. Palai tries not to, but finally must give in to her pangs of conscience. She tries to get help from Pang, but she's still asleep, so Palai gets Siva inside and into dry clothes by herself.

(Palai reluctantly attends to feverish Siva.)

The next morning, Siva's in his own bed with a fever, being attended to by Thoi and Dr. Nichada. He demurs her offer of getting him a nurse, telling her he has someone else in mind.

Palai vehemently refuses to take care of him when asked, but later relents when she finds Siva won't accept Pang's or others helping him. And of course, he's pleased as a peach when she shows up to feed him.

Junjarang finds out Siva's at home and goes off to see him. Thanakorn is also looking for someone, Palai, and he goes to Palai's old home, which now belongs to Rasika and Junjarang. Rasika tells him she doesn't know where Palai is, and suggests they join forces to find out.

When Junjarang shows up at Siva's, panic ensues as Siva tries to get Palai to leave before Jun finds her there. She makes him promise not to come to the Orchid House without her permission and he agrees. Junjarang arrives suspicious because of the servant's attempt to stop her, but finds the place empty except for Siva. She seems to have come for the purpose of complaining to Siva about his employees at the hospital attitude towards her, and Siva has to remind her he's sick and not in the mood for her nonsense.

(Siva fends off Palai's advances in front of Junjarang.)

Later at the Orchid House, there's a surprise dinner guest, Siva. Palai reminds him of his promise, but he simply says hilariously, “Yes, I did give my word. But I never said I'd keep it.” He proceeds to eat a dinner that Pang bought (since Palai no longer trusts their food), while Palai sits and plans.

Palai goes to her old home, and Rasika's new one, where Rasika and Junjarang are wondering about the identity of Palai's husband and also discussing Junjarang's marriage to Siva (Siva's father gave his consent to the marriage earlier in the episode.)

Palai tells them she just came to get her parents' portrait, but then reveals she knows Jun visited Siva yesterday. Jun asks her how she knew that, but Palai tells her she has to find out herself and leaves. They follow to see Palai driven away in a car that looks strangely like... Siva's car. Jun hops into her car in pursuit, with Rasika following after her.

Confrontation time! Jun tracks Palai to the Orchid House, and Siva's there too. There's slapping and shoving and words between Jun and Palai. Then Palai shows her their marriage certificate and Jun works herself into a hysterical state of denial before passing out.

Siva takes Jun to the hospital (why I don't know), and tells Rasika and Jun he really can't go into details about why he married Palai and apologizes.

(Wow, scary.)

And then Rasika shows why she is the Mother of Evil. When Siva goes out of the hospital room, she grabs Jun's wrist and a knife and cuts away. Siva hears screams and rushes back inside the room, to see Rasika holding a knife telling him Jun tried to kill herself.

Siva gets help and Rasika tells him how much Jun wants to marry him, (as Jun cringes from her) she'll even rather die if she can't marry him because of her great love for him. (Rolls eyes.) But Siva seems to be buying it and promises Rasika he'll break up with Palai to marry Jun.

He returns home to address Palai in regards to breaking their agreement about not telling anyone about the marriage. But Palai tells him she didn't tell anyone, if people followed her and found out by themselves, what can she do? That leads to this discussion.

"I really wonder what your heart is made of.
How can it be so cruel?
"

"If your parents were murdered and accused of crimes they didn't commit,
to the point where you lost everything overnight,
you might do something as cruel or worse."

"I did everything because I had to.
If you don't want to get in trouble, don't force me to do what I don't want to do."

Meena has gone to talk to Officer Veerakorn, having got his number through Thana's mom. Upon being shown the price proposal documents, she tells him she knows they're not right because she worked for Palai's mom company. When Vee tells her she needs evidence, not just words, Meena promises to find evidence the documents were forged.

Siva sees Pang taking medicine to Palai for her wound near her mouth, when she got hit by Junjarang. He takes the medicine from her and goes to find Palai to apply it on by himself. It reminds me of Palai feeding him when he was sick. And it's obvious that both are feeling a growing attraction to each other.

Rasika shows up right on time to interrupt the tender moment. She asks to speak to Palai alone, and it's on. The odd thing is (and what makes this such a refreshing lakorn) that both Rasika and Palai refer to how similar they are. There's really a family resemblance here which is awesome considering Palai's the heroine and Rasika's the villain.

Palai tells her,
"I think that if you were 20 years younger, you might do exactly what I am doing.
But now you are too old to go after Siva, that's why you have to send Junjarang instead."

And Rasika's response?

"... If one part of my talent is in your small brain,
quickly divorce and leave this house.
Otherwise I will be the one kicking you out from the house."

So Rasika makes a phone call to Siva's mom and tells her of the marriage. Siva's mom responds by calling Siva and telling she's returning tomorrow. Siva responds by telling Palai not to mess with mom. And Palai says she won't interfere as she's not here because of his mom.

Siva goes to find out more details about the police case involving Palai's family and is spotted by Veerakorn. Veerakorn tells Thana about it and they both agree. It must be because of Palai that Siva is interested in the case.

So Siva's mom is back, and Rasika immediately pours more poison into her ears about how bad Palai is and what a bad daughter she was. Thus, the first meeting between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law has Khun Daranee (Siva's mom) accusing Palai of trapping her son into marriage with her body.

(Siva's mom, Khun Daranee, comforts Junjarang.)

Khun Daranee offers her money (haha!) to stay away from Siva, but Palai tells her she's not after money. So what do you want? asks Khun Daranee, but Palai refuses to answer. The discussion ends as to be expected with Khun Daranee collapsing and having to be brought her medicine.

Siva's incensed with Palai over the incident and tells her his mom has nothing to do with it and if there's a next time, he won't forgive her. When he goes back to his mom, she's still focused on Palai, and wants to discuss her. Siva wants her to rest, but she refuses asking him about the marriage. When he tells her it was because of something important, Khun Daranee puts two and two together and comes up with five. Palai is pregnant.

Siva agrees to it, probably figuring it's the easiest way to explain the marriage. Palai's not so impressed by his logic when he tells her, but he argues that no one will bother her now. Siva is of course 100% wrong about that, because as soon as Rasika gets word from Daranee of Palai's alleged pregnancy, she immediately springs into action.

Rasika goes to see Mann, her numero uno for doing her dirty deeds. She wants him to beat up Palai until she miscarries, but Mann refuses, saying he doesn't want to get involved in dirty stuff. She reminds him of the fact that she helped him get his current position as owner of his shop and Mann reluctantly agrees.

(Dr. Nichada and Khun Daranee.)

Khun Daranee goes to find Palai and gets her to go with her, destination undisclosed. They end up at the hospital, where Khun Daranee enlists Dr. Nichada's help in giving Palai a test to see if she's really pregnant.

MY THOUGHTS

I recently had a discussion with my younger sister about evil. She's a college student at a prestigious university, and hesitated to call anything or anyone evil.

But what else can you call someone who's selfish and will do anything to get their own way? What do you call someone who would murder her own brother to gain his money and control of his company like Khun Rasika?

On the other hand, to combat evil, is it alright to blackmail someone into marriage? Does anything go? No holds barred, right?

Because for Rasika, that's certainly the case. She won't let anyone or anything get in the way of her ambition and quest for power, not Palai or her alleged baby. And, there are people like that. I know, because I've caught glimpses at times, of evil. Of people doing things that border on evil. It's a scary and frightening thing, because to stand up to that evil will cost you and cost you plenty. But it must be done.

The question is, is it morally okay to go to the limits Palai has gone to (blackmail, threats, etc.) to stop someone like Rasika?
