Ah, what joy and happiness a child can bring. Also chaos, terror, fear, and calamity as well. No, I'm not speaking from personal experience (thank you!), but from the lakorn Ka Kaung Kon.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's talk about episode 7 first, which pretty much sets up the next stage in this lakorn. The tension's abound, will Gluay really leave and will Luck let her? The latter is a big no-no. Right from the start Luck's been chasing after Gluay and doing everything he can to be closer to her. And now everyone knows about Gluay's and Luck's fake marriage. They might as well have taken out a newspaper ad.

(NahTah's and PeeMarn's fake engagement, Luck tears up the divorce papers Gluay had already signed)

So there is an engagement (NahTah's to PeeMarn), a pending divorce (although Luck does everything he can to delay it, even tearing up the papers) and of course, denial. Big time denial.

(PeeMarn espies the cooing pair of Gluay and Luck, Margie's arrival)

Luck denies his feelings for Gluay, Gluay pretends she actually wants to leave, and Jed, Khun Kare, and the others look the other way to avoid seeing the burgeoning feelings between Luck and Gluay. Fortunately, by the end of this episode, a plot device by the name of Margie, Luck's little daughter, arrives as Gluay's about to leave.

Sugar and spice, and everything nice pretty much sums up episode 8, in which Margie turns Luck's household upside down, bonds with Gluay and even helps Luck in his quest to get closer to Gluay.

The humor shifts into high gear with Margie's arrival and we get to see Luck's fun side. Luck tells Gluay Margie is his and she must stay to take care of her. PeeMarn is introduced to Margie as her uncle, but it turns out he's really her father.

(Luck spying on Gluay with Jed, Evil duo Jen and her friend arrive to trash talk Gluay)

Really, it seems like the villians of this lakorn are just there to pass on information as required. Lawyer Jed is visited by the evil duo, namely Jen and friend who complain about how Gluay's clinging to Jen's man and won't divorce him. They then proceed to Gluay's house, having nothing better to do and a cat fight erupts between Gluay, Margie, servants and Jen and her friend. Luck intercedes and sends the duo off, but both Margie and Gluay are pissed at him.

(Two fathers, one daughter. There's a problem here folks.)

I enjoyed both episodes, but episode 8 is probably as fun as this lakorn is going to get in terms of laugh out loud moments. Although I was prepared to not like Margie, seeing her as the plot device she is, still her arrival brought something refreshing to this lakorn.

I like the fact that Luck's turned out to be a pretty decent chap outside of his childish rages and fits of jealousy, and that squeaky clean PeeMarn's the one who has a hidden child, one he apparently paid no attention to either. It's kinda like the reversal in Wish Upon a Star, the Korean drama with the sweet second lead going all manipulative and evil.

But Margie's arrival also creates problems. She's known as Luck's daughter, but how can that fiction be maintained long term? Also, I've have some idea of what happens later  on and I confess to great unease about it. But we'll have to wait and see.

And congrats to my sister and her new bundle of joy, a hefty 8 pounder who is three days old now! The stinker!
